Napkin Folding – Rose Fold

Napkin Folding – Rose Fold

Folding a napkin into a rose (or rosette) is an elegant way to elevate table settings for events like weddings, Valentine’s Day, or dinner parties. This fold works best with square, medium-weight cotton or linen napkins, as they hold the “petal” shapes better than thin or silky fabrics.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Form a Triangle:

Lay the napkin flat on a smooth surface. Fold it in half diagonally by bringing opposite corners together to form a large triangle.

The Starting Roll:

Starting from the long bottom edge (the fold), roll the napkin upward toward the top point. Stop when you have about 3–5 inches of the triangle’s tip remaining.

Create the Bud:

Turn the napkin so the rolled edge is facing you. Starting from one end of this long roll, begin rolling it tightly toward the other end to form the spiral “bud”.

Secure the End:

Once fully rolled, take the loose tail at the end and tuck it securely into one of the outer folds or creases to prevent the rose from unfurling.

Reveal the Leaves:

You will see two flaps (the original triangle tips) sticking out. Gently pull these apart and peel them back or flip them over the rosebud. These will serve as the leaves.

Final Adjustment:

Flip the entire assembly over. You should now have a rosebud sitting centered between two fabric leaves. Adjust the “petals” by gently fluffing the layers for a more natural look.
